Day at the Windmill

Today we took a trip out to a local village where I grew up, and my parents still live, Brill in Buckinghamshire to have a look at the windmill which according to 'C' looks "just like the one from Thomas!!!".

We had a lovely walk around talking about the sails and why they aren't going round any more. However 'C' did try to continually tell me we could just take out the old bits and put new ones in so it would work again! We talked about the big stones inside which are used to grind up grain to turn it into flour so we can make bread and cakes.

Then we had a race around the windmill and started playing on the hills until we started getting chilly and headed home for some warm milk and a rest!

Potty for Potatoes

As had become somewhat of a habbit I had stollen a friends Baby girl for the day, due to family events this year I have what I feel is quite an important bond with this little girl so do on occasion steal her for a day out, which is a bit of fun for me and a day of rest for her parents!

A couple of weeks ago our day together happened to coincide with time to dig up the potatoes!

This was a fab opportunity for her to really get her hands (and feet) dirty and she was loving every minute of it. She is a very tactile child at the best of times, all food has to be held before eating, she just loves different textures under hand (and in this case foot).

There is just nothing like a bit of dirt to get kids really engaged!!
